Sewing 101 for Kids: Express Yourself with your own Creations!
Learning to sew is such a fabulous way for kids to gain confidence in their abilities, and to create useful and fun items and clothing that convey their own unique style. We start with the basics, and from there they learn how to build on their set of skills to truly let their imaginations grow. Sewing is an important life skill, and it’s so satisfying to be able to turn your ideas into a finished creation!

Who is it for?
These classes are ideal for children ages 8-12. No prior experience is necessary. Scheduled around your calendar, one-on-one instruction is the best way to make sure your child gets the focus and attention to complete their project safely and with confidence.
What will your child learn?
- How to thread and safely operate a sewing machine
- How to choose their own fabrics and trims for projects
- How to use basic sewing tools to accurately and safely mark, cut, and pin fabric
- How to use an iron safely
- How to have FUN making things, even when you run into challenges

Not sure where to start? These are some ideas that can be created in a single sewing session:
- Decorative pillowcase
- Drawstring sleepover bag
- Elastic-waist skirt
- Infinity scarf

Private sewing lessons are held in my studio in the heart of San Bruno, CA and are offered Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday through Saturday between 10am and 8pm, by appointment only. A lesson is $50 per hour, for 2 hours. I am flexible if you want longer or shorter sessions, but in my experience 2 hours generally works best.
